As students in SLE, TESL, and MATL might be potential instructors in IEC, they would gain valuable teaching experience through these courses. To be more specific, for those senior Chinese students who study in these programs, they are able to apply the pedagogy they have learned into a real teaching practice, which will help them have a better understanding of some teaching strategies (e.g., how could recasts and prompts help English learners improve the third person pronoun). For other teachers, it might be their first time to teach a group of CIS, which enables them to have a more in-depth understanding about how to teach international students. In addition, they would have a good opportunity to learn more about Chinese culture. Because veteran teachers will participate in IEC and all these instructors can share their teaching tasks, young teachers could learn from those experienced teachers to teach more effectively.
