Potential Instructors in IEC
Students in TESL/SLE ProgramStudents in SLE, TESL, and MATL could also serve as qualified teachers. Even though these students are still studying at McGill, many of them are experienced ESL teachers, having been teaching English for years. Thus, they could offer their expertise when assisting students in their small language problems (e.g., articles, tense, etc.).
Veteran TutorsThe current tutors in the McGill Writing Centre might be willing to participate in this project. No doubt, they are veteran teachers who help ESL students with their English. Instead of teaching in a multilingual classroom, they teach CIS and could offer them targeted training concerning certain language factors (e.g., the third person pronoun).
However, because senior CIS and some students in the education programs are non-native English speakers, they fail to capture the mistakes sometimes. Furthermore, a math student might have difficulty in helping with an essay for topics related to English literature. As a result, the abovementioned teachers might collaborate and share their teaching tasks in IEC.
